A 46-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder that took place in Scarborough in 2018. The attack, which involved two female victims, occurred inside a highrise residence on Trudelle Street, near McCowan Road and Eglinton Avenue East. One of the victims was stabbed multiple times before the suspect fled the scene, evading capture for years.
At approximately 6 p.m. on November 23, 2018, the accused allegedly entered the residence and assaulted a woman known to him. During the attack, a female youth was also targeted and stabbed multiple times with an edged weapon. The severity of the attack led to an extensive emergency response.
Following the violent incident, emergency personnel rushed to the scene to provide medical assistance to the victims. The suspect had already fled by the time authorities arrived. Despite efforts to locate him, he managed to evade arrest. Police conducted a thorough investigation and launched a search, but the suspect remained unaccounted for over the years.
After an extensive search, law enforcement authorities tracked the suspect to Guyana. On December 20, 2024, he was arrested by local authorities in coordination with international law enforcement agencies. Following his detention, arrangements were made to have him transported back to Canada, where he now faces multiple charges related to the 2018 attack.
