A man has died following a shooting inside Scarborough Town Centre on Thursday afternoon, Toronto police confirm.

The incident took place at the mall located at 300 Borough Drive. Reports of gunfire near the lower-level food court prompted officers to respond to the scene shortly after.

A spokesperson for Scarborough Town Centre said the shopping complex will remain open despite the incident. However, the lower-level washrooms near the food court are closed while police conduct their investigation.

The mall remained accessible to shoppers throughout the afternoon. Authorities still restricted access to the immediate area where the shooting occurred.

Police have not yet released details about possible suspects or the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Investigators are asking anyone with information or footage from the scene to come forward.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
